Overview

L' Oasi del Gusto di Nicola Lovisi is a gem nestled in the heart of Casaletto Spartano, along the peaceful Via Nazionale. This charming osteria offers a sincere and heartfelt taste of Southern Italy, where tradition and local flavors come alive on each plate. The restaurant’s location makes it an ideal stop after exploring the nearby natural wonders, such as the celebrated waterfalls or the Oasi dei Capelli di Venere.

The space itself offers both an inviting indoor dining area, complete with air conditioning, and a beautiful outdoor courtyard shaded by vines. This al fresco setting enhances the authentic experience, though the summer heat can be intense, so patrons might appreciate a breeze or some extra fans. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, perfect for families, groups of friends, or those seeking an authentic regional meal in a relaxed environment.

On the menu, simplicity meets excellence in dishes like the Antipasto dell'Oasi—a rich platter of prosciutto, capocollo, local cheeses, and seasonal vegetables that showcase the area's bounty. The homemade pasta, particularly the gnocchetti and cavatelli served with fresh tomato sauce, captures the essence of home-cooked Italian cuisine, highlighted by slow-cooked ragù and delicate ravioli with white ragù. Meat lovers will appreciate the expertly grilled Tagliata di Carne and roasted sausages served with potatoes, both hearty and flavorful.

Additional highlights include the Tegamino di Pane, Formaggio, Pomodori ed Origano, a rustic baked dish melding bread, cheese, tomatoes, and oregano into a comforting, savory treat, and the classic Tiramisù, which rounds off the meal with a touch of sweetness and tradition.

The staff’s hospitality is notable—friendly, attentive, and eager to share the stories behind the food and wine. While service can be a bit slow during peak hours, the kitchen’s gesture of serving bruschette as a pause offering reflects their commitment to guest satisfaction.

L’ Oasi del Gusto is ideal for travelers and locals alike who appreciate genuine culinary craftsmanship rooted in regional identity. Its focus on quality products, generous portions, and a convivial atmosphere makes it a place to find solace in good food and good company. Whether you are embarking on a leisurely afternoon after hiking or simply wishing to savor rustic southern Italian fare, Nicola Lovisi’s osteria provides a memorable and heartfelt dining experience.

Lovely location and a great place to eat at after visiting the waterfalls. There is an inside air-conditioned eating area but beware it is usually full at meal times. We arrived 2pm and there was no indoor area for us to sit so we sat in the outdoor space. It was a lovely long court yard with vines growing along the edge. They could do with some fans outside because it was so hot. Although they had umbrellas to cover us from the sunset still had to play musical chairs to avoid the sun as the afternoon progressed. There wasn't much choice on the menu but we were happy. Portions are a great size, maybe a little too much and the food was very tasty. The service however is extremely slow, so be prepared to wait a little while for your food. The restaurant are aware of the waiting times and offer you bruschetta to fill a hole whilst waiting. We waited over an hour for our main meals. The restaurant was full. We were a group of 8 people and we had beer as well as starters and mains. We thought the price was reasonable for all of us.

Consigliato!
